Aldi opens first checkout-free store in London | City & Business | Finance

Shoppers will first need to download Aldi’s Shop&Go smartphone app and then select a payment method. Then they can walk into the store, pick up their items and leave.
Specially positioned cameras will detect what items customers at the Greenwich, south-east London store, take and charge their Aldi accounts.
Facial recognition technology can tell if a shopper is old enough to buy alcohol or any other age-restricted products.
