Donny suits Chelsea
Donny van de Beek is a better fit for Chelsea rather than Real Madrid or Barcelona.
That’s the opinion of former Ajax winger Jesper Gronkjaer, who believes the Holland international’s style of play would be utilised better by Frank Lampard.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United and Spurs have all been linked with the talented 23-year-old midfielder, who is reportedly valued at around £50million.
“I wouldn’t be surprised to see him at Real Madrid or Barcelona but I would rather see him at a club just below that,” Gronkjaer told Goal. “For his style of play alone, clubs like Tottenham or Chelsea would be a better fit.
“They are still top clubs and he is more like Frank Lampard, that kind of player. He is a big guy, box-to-box and takes good long shots, but he is not as technically gifted as other players that have come from Ajax. He is a player you can always get a certain level from.”
Timo Werner suitors
Liverpool and Chelsea face a battle to sign Timo Werner in the summer transfer window as Inter Milan have also joined the race for the RB Leipzig star.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been a long-time admirer of Werner, while Chelsea manager Frank Lampard sees the striker as an ideal candidate to provide competition for Tammy Abraham.
However, according to Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter are dreaming of bringing Werner to the San Siro this summer.
The Italian club are set to lose Lautaro Martinez, with the Argentine heavily linked with a summer move to Barcelona, as he wants to play alongside his compatriot Lionel Messi.
Christian Pulisic improvements
Chelsea ace Christian Pulisic has identified two aspects of his game that need to improve if he is to reach the next level.
The £58million winger has made steady progress in his maiden campaign at Stamford Bridge. He is determined to improve his attacking numbers – but also plans to beef up to keep defenders at bay.
“I want to learn to be even more clinical in front of goal continue to boost my numbers, get more goals and assists,” he said.
“I want to be stronger on the ball, being able to hold off players and those are two areas that I’m definitely working on.”
Memphis Depay interest
Three Premier League clubs are interested in former Manchester United and Lyon winger Memphis Depay.
The suspension of all sporting events in France has seen Lyon fail to qualify for European football next season having finished seventh.
And the club’s outspoken president owner Jean-Michel Aulas has already conceded that Depay, 26, could leave without Champions League or Europa League football next term.
Spanish website Todofichajes claim Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are all considering an approach with the Holland international’s contract set to expire in June 2021.
