Additionally, meeting the right criteria could see other adults living in the property counting as “disregarded people”. 

If everyone living in a household is disregarded they will receive a 50 percent discount on their council tax bill. 

If every member of a household is a student or severely mentally impaired they are exempt from council tax entirely. 

Some households could now be entitled to a discount if someone has moved out or moved in, and they will need to inform the council of this in order to receive the discount.
