Disneyland Paris staff quarantined after worker tests positive for coronavirus | World | News

The infected worker had not been in contact with any visitors to the park, a Disneyland Paris spokesman said. The resort is checking on staff who had been in contact with the employee, who was diagnosed with coronavirus over the weekend. Disneyland Paris remains open today despite the positive diagnosis, with park bosses saying guests will be provided with hand gels.

Cases of coronavirus continue to rise in France, with over 1,200 people infected by the virus.

A total of 19 people have died from the virus, formally known as COVID-19.

A Disney spokesperson released a statement over the weekend explaining the park in France remained open despite the outbreak in the country.

They said: “Disneyland Paris is open and welcomes visitors as usual.

“We’re following the development of the situation in close collaboration with health authorities, whose recommendations we follow.

“Disneyland Paris applies exemplary sanitation procedures, as well as high hygiene and cleanliness standards.”

France has banned mass public gatherings of more than 1,000 people in a bid to contain the virus.

The new restrictions expand on measures previously announced in coronavirus hotspots to apply them nationwide, health minister Olivier Veran said.

He said: “The priority is to do all we can to slow the transmission of the virus.”
