On Saturday, President Trump tweeted in reaction to the videos to explain that the ramp was slippery and he did not want to fall while walking. Videos posted online show the US President walking slowly and carefully down the ramp.
More videos posted online also showed President Trump struggling to lift a glass of water to his mouth.
The footage sparked a strong reaction from social media users who speculated about President’s Trump health.
They used the hashtags #TRUMPstroke and #TrumpIsNotWell on Saturday evening.
In a tweet, President Trump wrote: “The ramp that I defended after my West Point Commencement speech was very long and steep, had no handrail and, most importantly, was very slippery.
“The last thing I was going to do is ‘fall’ for the Fake News to have fun with.
“Final ten feet I ran down to level ground. Momentum!”
Social media users mocked the US President’s Twitter explanation.
In response to President Trump’s tweet, one user wrote: “FYI: this pitiful effort to get people to stop laughing at you just makes you look extra foolish.”
During the speech, Mr Trump set out his vision of America’s military.
He declared that: “We are not the policeman of the world”.
Hundreds of cadets sat social distanced to hear the US president’s address.
President Trump told them that they were graduating at a “crucial moment in history”.
He continued: “The job of the American soldier is not to rebuild foreign nations, but defend, and defend strongly, our nation from foreign enemies.
“We are ending the era of endless wars.
“In Its place is a renewed clear-eyed focus on defining America’s vital interests.
“It is not the duty of US troops to solve ancient conflicts in far away lands, that many people have never heard of.”
Mr Trump added: “We are not the policeman of the world. But let our enemies be notice.
“If our people are threatened we will never ever hesitate to act. And when we fight, from now on, we will only fight to win.”
In early June, the White House released the results of Trump’s annual physical and stated that he “remains healthy”.
