Eddie Hearn reveals update on Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua after ‘bulls***’ Bob Arum claim | Boxing | Sport

Eddie Hearn has hit out at Tyson Fury’s American promoter Bob Arum for claiming they’ve not held talks over a heavyweight title unification fight with Anthony Joshua. A Battle of Britain between Joshua and Fury is within touching distance of coming to fruition.

Should the pair – 30 and 31 respectively – win their upcoming bouts against Kubrat Pulev and Deontay Wilder, a multi-million-pound end-of-year showdown will be on the cards.

Shortly after Fury ended Wilder’s reign as WBC heavyweight champion, Hearn claimed to have held conversations with Arum over a lucrative showdown with ‘AJ’.

That notion, however, was dismissed by the Top Rank Boxing chief – who is adamant he’s yet to discuss an undisputed title fight with his Matchroom counterpart.

Arum’s comments have annoyed Hearn, who emphatically dismissed them in an interview with iFL TV.

“This geezer is all over it like a rat up the drain pipe. He was the first one to call me.

“We’ve been talking loads, loads. Listen we haven’t been exchanging contracts, but we’ve had several conversations about Fury-Joshua.”

According to Hearn, one of the topics of his conversations with Arum is the small matter of broadcasting rights for the fight in the United States.

Online streaming service DAZN currently broadcast Joshua’s fights in the USA, with Fury’s being shown stateside on ESPN’s pay-per-view services.

Hearn knows it’ll take a lot of work to reach a suitable deal for both parties but is confident of an agreement coming to fruition.

He said: “We talked about how the fight would work, we talked about how the broadcasters would work. It wasn’t drafting contracts, but it was talk between the two guys for the biggest fight in boxing.

“We said let’s all get round the table. This is how the deal should work. I have no problem sitting round the table with Bob and if it has to be Frank and if it has to be MTK, no problem. With us, it’s very simple to get a fight done with AJ.

“How many people is Tyson Fury paying percentages to? All these people? It’s madness.”
