Jill Biden humiliation as Fox news host blasts ‘borderline illiterate’ FLOTUS live on air | World | News

The First Lady-elect and husband Joe Biden will be inaugurated on January 20, after the President-elect beat the outgoing Donald Trump in the US election. But a Wall Street Journal article taking the future First Lady to task for using the title of Doctor has sparked a debate in the US. Mr Carlson has covered the story for the third day in a row, where he described Mrs Biden as “borderline illiterate” over her dissertation.

Mr Carlson, speaking about the future First Lady’s work for her Ph.D, said her dissertation showed she “can’t think clearly”.

He added: “Contrary to what you may have read, Dr Jill Biden is not a healer, she is not allowed to write prescriptions, she wouldn’t know what to do with your appendix. Dr Jill has an education degree from school in Delaware, and you’re supposed to find that highly impressive.

“She could be a surgeon general! Now many have laughed at the apparent absurdity of this but we took it serious because that’s our job, we actually read her dissertation this week, the very document that made her quote a doctor. (…)

“Dr Jill needs reading glasses. Either that or she’s borderline illiterate. There are typo’s everywhere, including in the first graph of the introduction, Dr Jill can’t write, she can’t really think clearly either.”

More Twitter users took issue over Mr Carlson’s third broadcast about Dr Biden’s title, with others defending the alleged errors in her dissertation.

One said: “As a PhD holder, let me guarantee you that most-if-not-all dissertations sound “like Pig Latin or dogs barking” if you are not an expert in that field.”

Others mocked Mr Carlson for taking the time to read her dissertation, with one user saying: “I tapped out when he said ‘we took it seriously because that’s our job’.”

One more user said the broadcast was intended to rile up Republicans, and added: “Targeted programming, aimed squarely at bummed out Trump supporters who are already convinced that anyone who has something good must’ve scammed their way into it…like all the Trump organisation hangers-on did.”

One Twitter user pointed out that in a lawsuit, Fox News representatives rubbished accusations that Mr Carlson’s show is a news programme.

In September, US District Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil wrote: “Fox persuasively argues, that given Mr. Carlson’s reputation, any reasonable viewer ‘arrive[s] with an appropriate amount of skepticism’ about the statement he makes.”

Other’s criticised Mr Carlson for talking about Dr Biden when “thousands are dying from covid each day”.

One user said: “3500 Americans died yesterday. Another 850,000 filed for unemployment today. We experienced the largest foreign cyber hack in history.

“There is no national plan to contain the virus’s spread. 12 million lost health insurance. 7 million fell below poverty line since June, but sure.”

The row over Dr Jill’s title began when Joseph Epstein, writing in the Wall Street Journal, said her use of doctor “feels fraudulent, even comic”.

He added: “A wise man once said that no one should call himself ‘Dr.’ unless he has delivered a child.

“Think about it, Dr. Jill, and forthwith drop the doc.”

Vice President-elect Kamala Harris lashed out at the article, claiming it left her “deeply disappointed that in 2020, that kind of approach would be given any legitimacy”.
