Man Utd fans convinced Paul Pogba is about to sign new Old Trafford contract | Football | Sport

Manchester United fans on Twitter are convinced Paul Pogba is about to sign a new contract at Old Trafford. The France international wanted to leave the club last summer, with Real Madrid and Juventus both linked. But supporters think that, with Pogba recently speaking glowingly of life at United, he’s about to sensationally decide to stay.

United nearly lost Pogba last summer with the 27-year-old admitting he felt the time was right to pursue a new challenge elsewhere.

Since then the France international has endured a frustrating campaign, with injury setbacks restricting him to just eight appearances across all competitions.

Pogba has been speaking a lot of late, opening up on his time at United and his desire to help the club achieve success.

And fans on social media are convinced he’s about to sign a new and improved contract at the club, with one saying: “Pogba is signing isn’t he…”

A second said: “Pogba content again, we love to see it.”

The tweets were in response to a message from several ex-players including Wes Brown, who believes Pogba can shine in the same midfield as Bruno Fernandes.

Fernandes is currently the darling of Old Trafford having impressed since his January arrival from Primeira Liga side Sporting Lisbon.

And Brown said: “There’s been a lot of pressure on Paul.

“But he’s a humble guy, a normal guy, and he just wants to show everybody what he can do.

“He’s had a lot of stick of late, but at the same time I’m looking forward to him coming back.

“He’s got a new challenge with Bruno coming in and we’re all looking forward to seeing what that partnership brings, because Paul wants to play the best that he can.

“It’s definitely something to look forward to.”

Former United star David May also hailed Pogba’s character, saying: “To be truthful, I’d only said hello to Paul a couple of times but this was the first time I’d spoken to him and it was for about an hour and a half, which has been trimmed down a little bit for the show. What a humble guy, he really is.

“What viewers and listeners will probably understand now is the pain that he’s been going through while being injured, and how much he has wanted to play through the pain barrier.

“‘Humble and down to earth’ is not how he’s been painted in the media, but he just loves football and when you listen to it you get the full story of that.”
