Man Utd news LIVE: Woodward learns Coutinho transfer decision, Sancho boost, Arsenal plan | Football | Sport

Odion Ighalo bonuses revealed

Odion Ighalo earns £8000 for every goal he scores during his time at Manchester United. The former Watford man has impressed since joining the Red Devils on deadline day in January.

The 30-year-old, on loan from Shanghai Shenhua, has netted four goals in all competition with United fans hailing the striker.

And according to The Sun, Ighalo pockets £8000 for every goal he scores under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

They say the Nigeria international took a 40 per cent pay cut on his £300,000-a-week wages in China to join United.

Ighalo also earns £9000 for every United win when he’s in the match day squad.

He even pockets £3000 if United draw, however, Ighalo gets nothing if the Red Devils lose.

The Sun add that the ex-Watford ace will also pocket extra cash if the Red Devils secure Champions League football for next season.

Man Utd signing backed

Manchester United transfer target Jack Grealish has similar leadership traits to Bruno Fernandes, claims European football expert Gabriele Marcotti.

“I think getting the [Grealish and Jadon Sancho] is probably going to cost you the best part of £200m,” Marcotti said on the Gab and Juls podcast.

“People seem to adore Grealish. I know he’s somebody who stands out more than he should because of the stuff he does with his shinpads, because of his hair.

“What I like about it though, in terms of attitude, we’ve all praised Bruno Fernandes for his personality and the fact that the guy’s got cojones – Grealish does too.

“I think this is something United could use actually, some very strong, visible, personalities as well. That would certainly help.”

Philippe Coutinho decision

Manchester United are interested in signing Philippe Coutinho this summer but the Barcelona star has ruled out a move to Old Trafford because of his previous association with Liverpool.

Coutinho struggled to make an impact at Barcelona following his big-money move in January 2018.

The Brazilian has since been shipped out to Bayern Munich on loan until the end of the season.

Going forward the 27-year-old’s future is up in the air as he has been linked with a potential return to the Premier League.

But Spanish publication Sport claim Coutinho has vetoed a move to Old Trafford because he has previously played for Liverpool.

United chief Ed Woodward was said to have made contact with the Catalan giants over a potential summer switch.

However, Coutinho has quickly nipped those links in the bud as he has apparently named the Red Devils as the only team he would not play for.

Jadon Sancho boost

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s willingness to play young players has given them a good chance of signing Jadon Sancho.

The Borussia Dortmund star is the Red Devils’ top transfer target for the summer window but bringing the 19-year-old back to the Premier League will be far from easy.

Manchester United boss Solskjaer has watched from afar as Sancho has electrified the Bundesliga this season, scoring 14 goals and registering 13 assists.

And the Evening Standard believe United’s willingness to play young players under Solskjaer has given them a ‘good chance’ of winning the race for the teenager’s signature.

Arsenal plan

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is interested in signing Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in what would be a major coup for the underachieving Red Devils.

It is no secret that United are in the market for a new striker this summer and they have been heavily linked with Tottenham star Harry Kane.

However, Aubameyang’s future in north London is also up in the air and he is wanted by Barcelona.

If the Gunners miss out on Champions League football next season they could face a difficult battle to keep hold of their key men.

And United are hoping to profit from that as they are keeping tabs on the Gabon international, according to The Sun.
