Meghan Markle POLL: Will Meghan and Harry ever return to UK and resume royal roles? | Royal | News

After leaving royal duties behind them, the couple initially moved to Los Angeles from Canada with their one-year-old son, Archie, where they stayed during the coronavirus pandemic.

In July it was confirmed they had secured a mansion in the celebrity hotspot Santa Barbara, north of Los Angeles.

Both Meghan and Harry are looking to become financially independent from the Royal Family.

Despite stepping down from the Royal Family, Queen Elizabeth has left the door open for the couple to return.

But is asking, “Will Meghan and Harry ever return to the UK and resume royal roles?”

Although leaving royal duties behind them, both Harry and Meghan will continue to be patrons of various organisations in the UK.

And despite the door remaining open for them to return, royal commentator, Richard Fitzwilliams fears the couple, especially Meghan, will never come back to the Firm.

He told “I certainly don’t ever see her coming back.

“Remember they have kept their royal patronages so there will be an input from them in certain organisations to which they are still attached in Britain and they have links to the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust.

“Although it seems totally improbably at the moment. One of the most fascinating points about the future is you can never tell.”

This month, a new unauthorised biography about the couple, Finding Freedom, was released.

Published by Harper Collins, the book claims to go beyond the headlines, “dispelling the many rumours and misconceptions which have plagued the couple on both sides of the pond”.

Both royal reporters, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand claim to have an insight into the innermost workings of the Royal Family, and say they witnessed the Meghan and Harry’s lives in the UK in a way few outsiders can.

The 368-page book is said to be an “honest, up-close, and disarming portrait of a confident, influential, and forward-thinking couple who are unafraid to break with tradition, determined to create a new path away from the spotlight, and dedicated to building a humanitarian legacy that will make a profound difference in the world”.

A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has denied the couple had anything to do with the biography.

Despite the book raising eyebrows among royal circles, Mr Fitzwilliams said the book is not a “seismic bridge burning” with the Royal Family.

He continued: “Finding Freedom wasn’t a seismic bridge burning with the Royal Family because the Queen and Prince Charles were praised.

“Obviously the comments about the Cambridge’s and about the institution will not have been popular so it has simply reinforced their current intention.

“The Queen has mentioned to Harry she will welcome him back but their current intention obviously is to forge their own independent careers so obviously the current situation of royal titles is something which seems like it needs to continue.”
