Mrs Trump wrote the message on Twitter on Easter Saturday. The United States has recorded over half a million coronavirus infections. Mrs Trump said: “On the eve of #Easter, let us remember the ones who lost their lives to COVID19.

“Please try to connect w/ family, friends & loved ones this year.


“Take care of yourselves, keep your spirits high.

“Enjoy #Easter knowing we are all in this together.”

It comes after Dr Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said the US could return to normality by November.

Dr Fauci told MSNBC: “I would hope that by November we would have things under such control that we could have a real degree of normality.”

New York has been the hardest hit of US states.

On Friday, Governor Andrew Cuomo said there had been a “dramatic decline” in three day hospitalisations in his daily briefing.

Earlier in the week, Mr Cuomo said measures undertaken in the state were “flattening the curve so far” but warned against easing off in case of another increase.

“It’s never been shut down, and so we must do this.”

Mr Buntrock insisted the Church had taken adequate provisions.

Most American churches are closed, however.

Reverend Nathan Empsall, director of Faithful America, has launched a petition calling for churches to suspend face to face services.

Mr Empsall explained: “Suspending in-person worship is not just about protecting those who go to the actual church service.

“It’s about protecting the lives of every single grocery store worker, gas station attendant and healthcare worker they meet.

“It truly is about loving our neighbour and healing the sick, which are things Jesus told us to go do.

Easter, in Christian theology. marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ following his crucifixion.
