Parham Airfield fire: Warning to Suffolk residents as blaze breaks out | UK | News

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the fire at 9.43am. Dramatic pictures show huge plumes of smoke billowing into the sky.

Thirteen crews have been sent to tackle the blaze.

Local residents have been warned to keep their doors and windows closed due to the smoke.

A witness told the East Anglian Daily Times there were a “couple of explosions”.

She added: “I have never seen a fire like it.”

Motorists have also been told to avoid the area.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue said on Twitter: “Our crews are currently attending a fire at a premises near Parham Airfield.

“Due to the amount of smoke in the area, local residents and businesses are advised to keep doors and windows closed.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk Police said “We were called shortly before 9.55am following reports of a fire at Parham Airfield.

“Officers are in attendance and are assisting the fire service

“Road closures are in place in the area.”
