Pride 2020 movies: The best 5 films to celebrate Pride | Films | Entertainment

Pride is inspired by an extraordinary true story from the summer of 1984, when Margaret Thatcher was in power and the National Union of Mineworkers was on strike.

In the movie, a London-based group of gay and lesbian activists head to a tiny mining village in Wales to raise money to support the strikers’ families.

As the strike drags on, the two groups discover standing together makes for the strongest union of all.

Starring Imelda Staunton and Bill Nighy, the movie was nominated for a Golden Globe and won a BAFTA, and is available to watch for free on Amazon Prime Video as part of a Prime membership.
