The Royal Family Twitter account added one of the portraits released yesterday by Kensington Palace to celebrate the big day of Kate and Prince William’s only daughter.

But they also added three more pictures, including one of little Charlotte standing on the steps of St George’s Chapel and waving after Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s wedding.

In another picture, the Queen and Princess Charlotte stand side by side as they look at the flypast during the Trooping the Colour parade.

And in another, adorable, picture, the Queen is surrounded by her great-grandchildren with Princess Charlotte sitting on her lap.

Many royal fans took to Twitter to join the monarch in celebrating Princess Charlotte’s birthday.

Others, couldn’t help themselves but notice staggering similarities between the little Cambridge and the Queen.

One social media user wrote: “HRH Princess Charlotte is such a courteous, gorgeous and amazing young lady who’s stolen the hearts of people across the world.

“A younger version of HM The Queen. The future of the monarchy is in good hands.”

Another said: “Spitting image of her Great Grandma. #HappyBirthdayCharlotte”.

And a third added: “She looks just like Queen Elizabeth…!!”

Princess Charlotte is celebrating her fifth birthday while the country remains on lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Over the past month, Kate and Prince William have been staying with their three children at Anmer Hall, their home in Norfolk.

In April, they joined the army of volunteers stepping up to help those self-isolating and prepared and delivered food parcels to the most vulnerable living in Norfolk.

Kate and Prince William prepared home made pasta with their children and went on toured the Sandringham estate for more than two hours to do their special deliveries.

Stepping back to maintain a safe distance, the Cambridges also spoke to some of those they helped.

Today, Kate and William will host a Zoom birthday party for Charlotte, according to a source, which will see the little royal’s friends and family in attendance.

Among those attending the video call, the source said, there will also be the monarch.
