Tesco UK: Supermarket praised by fans for important update to receipts

Tesco has been making regular updates to its services over the last few months. The retailer has gathered praise as some customers notice an important change to receipts.

The coronavirus lockdown has meant Britons were asked to stay indoors as much as possible.

However, this has sparked serious concerns for those at risk of domestic abuse.

It is thought cases have increased by as much as 20 percent as a result of Britons being kept indoors with their abusers.

Although there is reportedly a rise in cases, it is not always obvious where to turn for help.

Tesco customers have noticed a change made by the supermarket that gives more information for domestic abuse victims.

The retailer has updated its receipts with resources for those who may be affected.

At the bottom of printed receipts, shoppers have spotted contact details for a helpline.

The receipt reads: “Help is available if you’re experiencing domestic abuse.

“Call the National Domestic Abuse helpline on 0808 2000 247. Download the Brightsky App.”

The retailer listed the charity freephone number that can be contacted 24 hours a day.

As well as sharing the number for the National Domestic Abuse helpline, Tesco highlighted the Brightsky app.

The free app has been designed to provide support and information for those in an abusive relationship.

A third commented: “Domestic Abuse Helpline number on Tesco receipts, well done @Tesco.”

Speaking on the change, a Tesco spokesperson said: “Domestic abuse affects one in three women and one in six men during their lifetime.

“By using our till receipts to provide information on where victims of domestic abuse can access support, we hope that more people will be able to get the help they need.”
