Sir Tom Jones married very young, getting hitched to his teenage sweetheart Linda when they were 16-years-old. The pair already had a baby on the way, but the young Mark was not to be Tom’s only child. So how many children does Tom Jones have, and who are they?
Sir Tom Jones has admitted in an interview with The Telegraph while he was at the height of his fame, the singer had sex with up to 250 women a year.
Despite this, Jones had a young child at home, given the baby was born just a month after he and Linda tied the knot in March 1957.
Mark went on to become Jones’ manager after the death of his first manager and close friend, Gordon Mills.
However, in 1987, it was revealed Jones had fathered another child, Jonathan Berkery with model of Katherine Berkery.
In 1987, Jones had a brief relationship with model Katherine Berkery while he was on tour in the USA, after which she discovered she was pregnant.
In 1989, there was a fierce legal battle between Jones and Berkery, and eventually, after DNA testing, a court ruled Jones was the boy’s father.
Since then it has been reported Sir Tom refuses to have relationship with Jonathan, now 32, despite the boy calling on his father to reach out.
In 2008, Sir Tom spoke about Jonathan, and it is the only time he has spoken about it.
At the time, he said: “It wasn’t something I had planned.
“If I had planned it, I would have done something more than just financially.
“But it wasn’t. I just fell for it. I just fell for the seduction.”
As of 2019, Jonathan was last known to be living in a shelter.
In July, he was in temporary accommodation in New Jersey, United States, while busking and earning £5.50 an hour as a shelf stacker.
He had been homeless on and off for numerous years, admitting to problems with drugs, but broke his silence again last year, saying he wanted to speak to his ageing father “before it’s too late”.
He told the Daily Mail: “I do not want help with my career or anything like that. I just want to meet my father before it’s too late.
“As we both know, life is too short to let the important things pass by, so let me know when you get a chance.”
His plea came after his father hospitalised due to a bacterial infection.
Jonathan has also spoken out on Sir Tom’s 2008 interview, where he believed the singer implied Katherine “tricked him.”
In response to this, he said: “In 2008 he finally gave an interview acknowledging me but said my mother had tricked him. It wasn’t true and it really hurt.
“I got into drugs – cocaine and ecstasy. I was trying to numb the pain…
“I’ve straightened myself out now and mellowed. I just want to see my father before it is too late.”
Jones is the head judge on The Voice, which continues on Saturday at 8.30pm on ITV
