UFC news – Conor McGregor update from coach

Conor McGregor‘s head coach John Kavanagh has revealed the former two-division champion will return to the Octagon in July, with a fight against the in-form Justin Gaethje being offered to ‘The Notorious.

“There’s going to be a fight in three months’ time,” the SBG Ireland head coach said during an Instagram Live broadcast with ESPN’s Ariel Helwani. “I think you would be shocked by some of the names that come across the table.

“I just kinda go at this stage, ‘Yeah, okay…you’re kickboxing who?’…at this stage there’s just so many things that come across the table.

“I just say, ‘Look, guys, that’s your world.’ Audie, Paradigm and Conor are so good at that, at planning, strategy and negotiating, that I just say, ‘Yeah, give me a date when it comes.’

“For me, I’m just focused that are booked, that are coming up. Obviously, Pedro [Carvalho] was the big one for the gym there recently that didn’t go ahead.

“He had a world title shot coming up, so my concern was with that – fights that I know are coming.

“But yeah, [the Justin Gaethje fight in July] was one of the ones that was being talked about – that was right up there.

UFC news – Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson update

UFC president Dana white has insisted Khabib Nurmagomedov will not be fighting Tony Ferguson next weekend at UFC 249.

In response to a Twitter account pretending to be MMA journalist Ariel Helwani, which tweeted fake news regarding the event, White said: “Absolutely NOT true!!!

“The card is happening but @TeamKhabib is out. I will announce the entire card tomorrow.”

UFC news – TJ Dillashaw speaks

Former UFC men’s bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw has claimed the promotion will give him an immediate title shot when he returns from suspension next year.

During an interview with MMA Junkie, he said: “I was told I would get that title fight when I came back, but that doesn’t mean anything I made a mistake – I don’t own rights to anything.

“But if it was my choice, it would be title fight, if not top-five to prove I should get that title fight. I think that makes sense.

“I’m hoping they just throw me to the dogs.

“If I can’t get that title fight, I want someone in the top five so that I can get my title fight.

“I’m not here to play around. I want my belt back. It’s still mine. I’ll be ready.”
