Universal Credit has now taken the place of Child Tax Credit, Housing Benefit, Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, income-related Employment and Support Allowance and Working Tax Credit.

However depending on a person’s circumstances, some people may still be able to make a new application for these benefits.

Universal Credit is a standard allowance, and depending on your personal circumstances you could be eligible for extra payments.

You may receive extra money if you have children, need help paying your rent or have a disability or health condition which prevents you from working.
