What Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer thinks about James Garner potential | Football | Sport

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer considers James Garner an ‘elegant midfielder of immense promise,’ reports say. The midfielder has made just a single appearance in the Premier League all season. But it appears the Red Devils view him as one for the future, rather than the present.

Manchester United boss Solskjaer gave Garner his debut last season in a Premier League win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

And he’s made six appearances in total for the first team so far this term, with four coming via the Europa League.

Garner has been in fine form at youth level, scoring eight goals from 10 appearances so far.

And the Evening Standard say United manager Solskjaer views Garner as a player with immense talent who could go on to be a regular at Old Trafford.

There have been rumours about a possible loan spell away from the Theatre of Dreams, with Premier League clubs previously linked.

And that could be the next step for the youngster, with Solskjaer keen for him to gain first-team experience.

Garner would find it difficult to break into United’s midfield at present, particularly given how much the Red Devils have improved in that position.

Bruno Fernandes is currently the toast of Old Trafford having flourished ever since his January arrival from Sporting Lisbon.

United will welcome Paul Pogba back from injury if and when the Premier League campaign resumes, with the France international missing since the 4-1 win over Newcastle on Boxing Day.

Scott McTominay has excelled for the Red Devils this season, continuing his development into a fine central midfielder.

And the likes of Fred and Nemanja Matic have both kicked on and improved having previously looked set for the exit door.
