What Man Utd players think about £108m Jadon Sancho transfer saga as talks continue | Football | Sport

Manchester United’s players have been given two weeks off after their 2019/20 campaign was brought to an end with a 2-1 Europa League semi-final defeat against Sevilla on Sunday and when they return to Carrington there could be a new face at the training complex.

The Red Devils put on a remarkable run when football returned from the coronavirus break to finish third in the Premier League table.

They also reached three semi-finals in the hectic run-in which saw them play at least twice a week for almost two months.

Players are expected to return to training in September and they will have two-and-a-half weeks to prepare for the upcoming season.

United’s fixtures were released this morning and their opening tie away to Burnley, which was originally scheduled for September 12, has been postponed because of their deep run in Europe.

That allows the squad extra preparation and time to integrate any new signings.

United have yet to strike in the summer transfer window as Ed Woodward has been working hard behind the scenes to complete a deal for Sancho.

Dortmund are refusing to budge from their £108million valuation but negotiations have not been completely ended.

If United complete a deal for Sancho they will break their record transfer fee, which currently stands at £89m which they paid for Pogba.

The England international will also likely have the highest salary in the squad which will be around £350,000-a-week.

United want to strengthen other areas of the squad and feel they can only do so if they save money on Sancho.

A new defensive partner for Harry Maguire and another creative midfielder are also on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s wishlist.
